Patricia Apollonia Kotero (born Patricia Apollonia Kotero) is an American actor, singer, and former model. Her most famous work is the lead in the 1984 Prince Purple Rain film and lead singer in the girl-group Apollonia 6 Apollonia was christened as an actress and singer by Prince. Through the 1980s Apollonia was one of many other artists that benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the late '70s. In the same year, she replaced Vanity as a member of the group Vanity 6 and performed with the group under the title Apollonia 6 in the film. Sex Shooter, a song from the soundtrack had a small hit for her trio but as Prince's Duet Partner on Take Me with You she was more successful. The two were falling out over the direction of her career Apollonia 6 broke up, and Kotero stopped her collaboration with Prince. The singer then appeared in couple of films that were minor during the 80s (reportedly not accepting an offer to star in the Purple Rain-follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then settled on an evening-time part in the drama Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. The R&B and dance songs were not a huge hit by the music buying public. They soon ceased to exist. In the years following, she continued to be active in the field of acting (if she was a bit unnoticed) as well as a couple of film roles, television appearances as well as an exercise video.
